Fascia forms a continuous tensional network throughout the human body, covering and connecting every single organ, every muscle, and even every nerve or tiny muscle fiber.
Fascia is made by dense connective tissue, mostly collagen type I and III and loose connective tissue constituted by hyaluronan and glycosaminoglycans. The dense component has the role to transmit the force in multiple directions, the loose to allow the interdependence of the layers that constitute the fascia. Fascia can be classified as superficial, localized in the hypodermis, and deep that surround the muscles. Both are well innervated.
